London Olympics 2012: Danny Boyle’s Opening Ceremony Inspired By FRANKENSTEIN
Who would have thought that a theatrical project on The National’s stage more than a year ago would be the ingredients for an Olympic opening ceremony! That’s at least what Danny Boyle, Frankenstein Director and Olympic Artistic Director tells Vogue,stating…
“(There is) quite a lot of Frankenstein in the show. I mean, we don’t reanimate dead creatures, but we did use Frankenstein as a dry run for a lot of ideas for this.”
So could we say that Frankenstein is the prequel to the Olympic games? If so, you can catch our broadcast this June prior to the 27 July opening ceremony and get a taste of what’s to come. And the Olivier-winning performances by Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller aren’t bad either.
Holy shit. I hope that means they’re using some of the steampunk industrial revolution stuff they used in Frankenstein. Having seen it up close, then right from the back of the highest part of the circle, it was totally amazing from every angle.
